There is no one who will know exactly what you are going through. It’s your body, it’s your cancer. So, tell “them” how you feel!

Yes!! That’s an important one. For the major appointments I had where I was told it was cancer and then later when they told me I would have a permanent disability… The doctor came in and delivered the news just after my husband stepped out to do something like change the carseat to my mom’s car! I was alone each time I received the horrible news!! :-/

It’s important to have that one person you can completely unload on and not feel responsible for their feelings when you’re feeling YOUR feelings. And sometimes, it’s ok to scream at the top of your lungs while you’re driving on the freeway just so you don’t have to carry all that inside you. Let people help you even if you’re usually the one who helps (this was humbling and eye opening for me as a person).

Always have someone with you for your treatments or appointments. You will probably be too nervous to remember everything you are being taught.
Write down all your questions as they come up and bring it with you to your appointments.

1) Have your teeth cleaned before starting Chemo. 2) You wont feel sick and miserable the entire time, and you might not throw up at all.

Hair helps keep your whole body warm. (Who knew?) I wish I had ordered a comfy terry-cloth sleeping cap BEFORE losing my hair. Once I had one, it kept me cozy and warm at night!

i came upon Jennifer’s video while checking out the Voice Center at Mass hospital because a friend was diagnosed with throat cancer. so i was attracted to the bald headed girl in the video still and i clicked on it and just kept watching her 12 minute video and i grew to care, enough so that i googled her name and then found that she died, and it made me sad, it made me mad it made me feel hopeless, but seeing her husbands honest portrayal of their cancer journey made me feel…..how courageous they both are.good bless you both

The strength you have Cassy is amazing. Not only is your brother your guardian angel but his life lives through you. You two were siblings and best friends. You’ve spent so much time together, I believe his spirit will always live on through not only you but everyone he met. Anyone who has met Kenny will never forget him. And anyone who meets you in the future, will meet a huge part of Kenny too.
